NJDEP Division of Fish & Wildlife - Obtaining a Duplicate License


Obtaining a Duplicate License or Permit Hunters and anglers occasionally need to obtain a duplicate license and or permit(s). Beginning in 2007 all licenses and permits are issued via the computerized Integrated Electronic Licensing System (IELS). Lost licenses, permits and stamps can be replaced at any license agent or by using the Division's license Web site. However, if there is a transportation tag associated with the license or permit, a customer is limited to purchasing a duplicate license/permit at a license agent or on the Internet sales site ONE time only. Any subsequent duplicate of a duplicate license or permit must be done in person at Division regional offices, or the Pequest Trout Hatchery and Natural Resource Education Center. Licenses and permits which were originally printed on a home computer (e.g. fishing license) can be reprinted for free using the license Web site. Youth Licenses Hunters who completed a hunter education class under the new IELS system and were issued a Youth License on the new green stock can go to any IELS agent and be issued a duplicate. Duplicates for lost Youth Licenses issued under the old system can be obtained at some Division offices or through the mail with proper verification that an original was issued.
