Permits
Disabled veterans are entitled to unlimited permits for the Permit Bow Deer Season, and unlimited firearm permits for the Permit Shotgun and Permit Muzzleloader deer seasons. The Division will no longer accept paper applications for any deer permits. Therefore, you need to refer to this Web site or the Hunting Issue of the Fish and Wildlife DIGEST as to the procedure to follow for deer permits.
Additionally, disabled veterans are entitled to two free spring turkey permits and one fall turkey permit during the lottery. Disabled veterans are also eligible for additional free permits for those zones and periods available after the lotteries. The Division will no longer accept paper applications for any turkey permits. Therefore, you need to refer to our Web site for the procedure to follow to apply for the turkey permit lottery, usually available in late January or early February, via the Internet sales site or through a license agent.
Once having established disabled veterans status through the Division, customers can obtain their licenses using the license Web site or a license agent. A list of license agents can be viewed at www.njfishandwildlife.com/agentlst.htm.
For the first time using the electronic licensing system now in use you must bring your firearm and/or bow and arrow or all-around license, or appropriate hunter education card(s), to a license agent. Once your information has been entered into the system by the agent you will not be asked to show proof again. Furthermore, since your information is in the system you will have the option to obtain all subsequent applicable licenses using the sales Web site at www.wildlifelicense.com/nj/.
Your licenses, stamps and permits are free and you do not pay any fee to the license agent for handling your transaction. However, if you choose to use the Internet sales site to obtain your licenses, stamps and permits you will incur a small shipping and handling fee.
