Visit the NJ Endangered Wildlife Exhibit

Over the past 30 years, the DEP Division of Fish and Wildlife's Endangered and Nongame Species Program Endangered Wildlife exhibithas made New Jersey a national leader in conservation by bringing key species back from the brink of extinction - such as the bald eagle, osprey, and peregrine falcon.

To chronicle this history and help commemorate the 30th Anniversary of New Jersey's Endangered Species Conservation Act of 1973, a beautiful interactive exhibit was on tour throughout 2003 for the public to see and experience. In April, 2004, the exhibit moved to the Pequest Trout Hatchery and Natural Resource Education Center where thousands of visitors will be able to learn about the many successes and challenges in managing our endangered wildlife.

You will:

  • Learn about New Jersey's 73 endangered and threatened species through a dynamic interactive I-Wall - a collage of video, audio and graphics.
  • Explore New Jersey's many beautiful and diverse landscapes.
  • See how state biologists help protect rare wildlife using innovative methods like the Landscape Project to help promote habitat protection and smart growth planning.
  • See a bald eagle, peregrine falcon, and osprey up close.
  • Hear sounds of frogs, toads, songbirds and other species calls.
  • Take the "Wise Up About Wildlife" Trivia Challenge...and much more.
