NOTE: This page has not been updated since the Shotgun and Rifle/Muzzleloader courses were combined into the new Firearms course in 2014. The exams linked below, however, are still valid to help students prepare for the written exams in the Archery and Firearms courses.
Upon completion of the NJ Hunter Education Program students are encouraged
to take the appropriate practice exam(s) prior to attending a field day. Below are links to one practice exam and answer key for each discipline.
The minimum passing score for each practice exam is 80%, or 36 correct answers
of the 45 questions. The actual exam will consist of 40 questions common to
all disciplines, and an additional 20 for each of the three disciplines. The
passing score of 80% of the basic 40, as well as 80% for each of the discipline-specific
portions, is required for completion of the course.
