Seasonal Fisheries Technician - Bureau of ShellfisheriesBackground: Fisheries Biology, Marine Science, Biology, Wildlife Management or Environmental Science Location: Port Republic, Atlantic County and Port Norris, Cumberland County Job Description: Assist with field, laboratory and data processing for NJ Bureau of Shellfisheries research and enhancement projects. Projects include: NJ Surfclam inventory, Delaware Bay oyster enhancement and management programs, Barnegat Bay Shellfish Restoration Program, Mullica River oyster restoration program, Delaware Bay juvenile finfish trawl survey and NJ estuarine shellfish inventory program. Duties include: Field sampling on Bureau’s vessels as well as on commercial surfclam and oyster harvest vessels. Deploy sampling equipment to collect shellfish and other organisms and measure basic water quality. Record, enter and proof data collected by the Bureau. Maintain buildings, grounds, vehicles, vessels, trailers and equipment. Requirements: College or university graduate or current student with a major in Fisheries Biology, Marine Science, Aquaculture, Biology, Wildlife Management or Environmental Sciences. Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office. Possess a valid drivers license. Boating experience desired but not required. Compensation: $7.91 to 11.48 per hour.
