John Christian's State Record Freshwater Striped Bass

Record freshwater striped bass

John Christian was fishing from the shore of the Great Egg Harbor River in Mays Landing on April 26, 2002, when he caught the record bass on 25-pound test using live herring for bait. The fish weighed 51 pounds, surpassing the previous record taken from the Delaware River in 2001 by 14 pounds, 8 ounces. The fish measured 48 inches in length with a 28½-inch girth.

Congratulations John!
