Improved habitat

Next

Here is the Phragmites after two seasons of grazing by goats and sheep. It is hoped that several consecutive seasons of grazing will eradicate the Phragmites and restore a native community of low-growing grasses, sedges, rushes, mosses and forbs (herbs other than grasses). Since the grazing was initiated, bog turtles have been found foraging and nesting in this portion of the habitat in late spring.
