Atlantic Sturgeon Report FormPlease use the form below to report any sturgeon sightings (dead or alive) or interactions in New Jersey waters. Interactions may include accidentally catching a sturgeon while fishing, seeing a sturgeon washed up on a beach, or even watching a swimming sturgeon. All interaction information is valuable in protecting and managing this endangered species. Remember: Atlantic sturgeon and shortnose sturgeon are endangered species. If you accidentally catch a sturgeon while fishing, cut the line as close to the hook as possible and quickly release it unharmed. Avoid handling the sturgeon and try to keep it under water while cutting the line. If possible, take several photos. Try to include one of the whole fish, one of the mouth, and one of any wounds. Photos are helpful for identification and for determining the health of the fish. The Division of Fish and Wildlife appreciates your accurate completion of the following report form: * = required |
